Ethiopia Signed Grant Agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

ADDIS ABEBA – A Grant Agreement amounting to 27.44 million Euros (approximately 877.923 million Ethiopian Birr), was signed today April 10, 2019, between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands Government at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

According to the agreement, the grant will be used to finance the public health infrastructure project specifically to construct and equip “Addis children’s hospital” in Alert Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The hospital will specifically design to have a capacity of 300 special children beds.

The overall goal of the project is to construct children hospital in Addis Ababa to address current health challenges and expanding needs of the Ethiopian government to improve equitable access to full spectrum of essential and quality health services, including health promotion, disease prevention and treatment rehabilitation and palliative care for children.

H.E. Ato Admasu Nebebe, State Minister of Ministry of Finance and H.E. Mr. B. Van Loosdrecht, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ethiopia/Permanent representative to the AU, IGAD, and UNECA signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands respectively.
