Ethiopia Committed to Gender Equality Agenda

March 7, 2019-ADDIS ABABA H.E Admasu Nebebe, State Minister of Finance on the occasion of a closing session of ‘the macro economic impact of gender inequality: seizing the opportunity for sustainable change’ remarked that the government of Ethiopia is committed to the gender equality agenda. It is important to remind ourselves that gender equality is not issue, promoting equality will benefit the well-being of all, including through large economic gains.

He noted that Ethiopia is fostering to improve the well-being of women and men through investments in basic services including health, education, water and sanitation as well as through targeted supported to women in various sector of the economy. The pro-poor budgeting system being practiced in the country is a representation that we have a strong commitment to mainstreaming gender in our macro economy policy.

The State Minster appreciates the active role of development partners and stakeholders. He strongly believes development partners will further strengthen and continue their support.
