Ethiopia Signs Grant Agreement with Japanese Government

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of Japan signed and exchange notes on “Aid for Economic and Social Development Program /COVID-19 support/,” amounting 1.5 billion Japanese Yen (14 million USD) or 490 million ETB today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance (MoF).



The objective of this project is to support the Ethiopian government in its effort to fight Covid-19 pandemic by supplying critical medical equipments including accessories, spare parts, installation, operation, and maintenance.

The agreement was signed by H.E. Ahmed Shide, Minister of MoF and H.E. Mr. Daisuke Matsunaga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ethiopia, on behalf of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and on behalf of the Embassy of Japan respectively.
