Ethiopia and China Hold High-Level Consultations to Strengthen Bilateral Development Cooperation

An Ethiopian delegation led by H.E. Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance, held high-level consultations with H.E. Liu Junfeng, Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and China.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in support of Ethiopia’s development priorities. The Ethiopian side highlighted the country’s ongoing economic reforms and development agenda, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration to advance sustainable growth and structural transformation.

Vice Chairman Liu reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Ethiopia through strengthened cooperation, including concessional financing, technical assistance, and capacity-building. Both sides also reviewed ongoing initiatives and explored opportunities to expand collaboration in key sectors such as railway infrastructure, agriculture, digital development, industry, and health.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen institutional engagement and maintain close coordination to translate mutual priorities into concrete outcomes, further advancing the comprehensive Ethiopia–China partnership.
