H.E. Semereta Sewasew Attends the 120th OACPS Council of Ministers in Brussels

H.E. Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, is participating in the 120th Session of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), currently underway in Brussels, Belgium.

In her address to the Council, H.E. the State Minister highlighted the organisation’s significant achievements since its establishment in 1975, particularly its role in fostering South–South solidarity and strengthening international cooperation. She emphasized that Ethiopia attaches great importance to collective approaches in addressing shared global challenges and reaffirmed the country’s continued commitment to supporting and strengthening the OACPS.

H.E. Semereta also highlighted the priority areas of intervention for the organisation, which include institutional reform, financial sustainability, trade and investment promotion, sustainable development, and peace and stability, aimed at enhancing the OACPS’s effectiveness and delivering tangible benefits to its 75 member countries.

The 120th Session of the OACPS Council of Ministers is deliberating on key agenda items, including institutional reform initiatives to make the organisation fit for purpose, measures to ensure its financial sustainability, preparations for the 11th OACPS Summit scheduled for March 2026, as well as other administrative matters.

The OACPS is an international organisation established under the Georgetown Agreement in 1975 and comprises 75 member countries from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. It serves as a platform for policy coordination and collective engagement on the global stage, particularly in partnership with the European Union.
