Sept. 8, 2020

Welcome to the website of the Ministry of Finance Ethiopia. The Ministry will establish the budget, accounting, payment, and internal audit system of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, monitor its implementation, prepare the Federal Government budget, make payments according to the approved budget, generate economic cooperation and fiscal policies, collect foreign aid and loans. Leading the way in bilateral economic cooperation as well as in liaison with international and regional organizations established to create economic ties are among the powers and responsibilities conferred on it by the Proclamation. Government-funded development programs, poverty reduction, and good governance can only be achieved if public finances are effective. These include the implementation of an effective program budget, the introduction of modern cash payments, the implementation of modern government accounting and reporting systems, the establishment and implementation of a strong internal audit to prevent waste of government funds, the development of a modern information system that supports financial operations. Therefore, we strive to be a strong and effective institution that has the capacity to effectively manage government resources. Our economy grew by an average of 10.1 percent annually between 2003-2007. This indicates that the plan was successful in terms of the annual average target set. Growth over the past year has seen the average annual per capita income increase from $377 in 2002 to $794 at the end of 2008. At the same time, economic growth has significantly reduced the poverty rate of the population due to its inclusive growth and inclusive growth in all sectors of the economy. Our country will achieve its goal by 2025. Achieving the vision of becoming a middle-income country is a long and challenging journey, but assistance from development partners is one option to address the financial and skilled manpower gap that is hampering the achievement of the set goals. External cooperation is of great importance to the efficient implementation of the country's priority sectors such as agriculture, water, energy and infrastructure. Therefore, it is the duty of every stakeholder to achieve our vision by utilizing the resources obtained through cooperation. Our economic success has been realized through strong relations between the government and the people, as well as our strong partnerships with development partners. Thus, we understand that leadership skills at the national level open the door to sustainable economic cooperation. A strong partnership can only be successful if there is a strong and comprehensive development cooperation policy and framework that takes into account the priority sectors of development recipients.
