State Minister Semereta Sewasew confers with the EEAS Managing Director for Africa

Today on 16 December 2025, H.E. Semereta Sewasew , State Minister of Finance of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia held discussion with H.E. Ms. Patricia LLOMBART CUSSAC, Managing Director for Africa in the European External Action Service (EEAS). The meeting focused on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
During the discussion State Minister Semereta explained elements of the ongoing Home Grown Economic Reform and underlined the need to encourage European Investors to take advantage of the macro-economic reforms and various opportunities to do business in Ethiopia. Further more she reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to create strong partnership with the EU and its Member States in economic development, peace and security, and migration. She also highlighted issues causing problem for smooth conduct of businesses and seamless political discourse.
State Minister addressed critical regional developments including the peace and security of the Horn, reaffirming Ethiopia’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and economic integration in the sub-region. She underlined the country’s proactive efforts towards interdependence and cooperation for mutual benefit.
The Managing Director on her part commend Ethiopia’s role in ensuring peace and stability at regional level and acknowledged the stance on peaceful co-existence. She reiterated the EU’s support for regional stability and development. She also appreciated the macro-economic reform.
The two officials have agreed to strengthen the historic relation that exists between the EU and Ethiopia and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interests.
